In Memory of Our Dear Classmates Stephen Jones died June 20, 2007 Stephen was born in Lawrence. After graduating with us in 1957, he attended K.U.. He served in the military for 21 years. Stephen worked for Boeing Aircraft Company in Wichita for 24 years retiring in 1995. He leaves his wife, Mildred, and four sons; Donald, Stephen Jr., Arthur and William. He had 17 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Mary Fulcher Gentry Shranklen died September 8, 2007
Mary was born in Port Huron, Michigan and grew up in Lawrence. After graduating with us in 1957, she worked at the Medical Arts Pharmacy and Wickes Lumber Company. She moved to Topeka in 1989. Many of you may remember Mary at the "Plunge" and marching as a "Twirler" in front of the LHS Band. She leaves a son, Jon, and a daughter, Kristi. Mary had 2 grandchildren and a great grandson.
Raymond Nieder June 20, 1938 - February 1, 2008
Most of us remember Ray as the tall silent guy but he was a husband, father, grandfather and all around nice man.
Ray and Julie (Bolton) would have been married 50 years February 5, 2008. They have four children and twelve grandchildren. Ray served in the U.S. Army and worked for Nieder Contracting which specialized in house painting. He had retired and enjoyed golf as well as watching the activities of his grandchildren. Services for Ray will be held February 4, 2008. Don Leibengood Died February 7, 2008 After graduating from Kansas University, Don moved to Colorado and worked as a survying engineer. He lived in Alma, Colorado for many years. A few years ago, Don retired and moved to the Ft. Meyers, Florida area. Don did not marry and had no siblings.
John Wolfe Died August 28, 2009 John Wolfe died August 28,2990. He leaves his son, Andrew of Springfield, Mo. and daughter, Lynette of Lenexa Ks. He also leaves his brother, William of Kansas City, Ks. After graduatiion from High School, he attended Kansas University and graduated from Emporia College in 1962. Of late, he had become very involved with the Springfield Civil War histoy reenactment group and spent many hours talking to school groups and volunteering at the Wilson's Creek National Battlefield Park in Springfield, Mo. Funeral services will be private.
Thomas J. "Jim" Shannon, 70, of Pleasant Valley , MO , passed away November 22, 2009. Visitation will begin at 2:00 pm followed by funeral services at 3:00 pm, Saturday, November 28, 2009 at Park Lawn Northland Chapel, 1640 North M-291 Hwy, Liberty , MO. Burial in Glenridge Cemetery . Jim was born September 26, 1939 in Topeka , KS . He graduated from Lawrence High in 1957 and LeTourneau College in 1962 with an engineering degree. For over 25 years he and his wife owned and operated Ark Automotive in Kansas City , MO. He was a long-time member and avid supporter of the Automotive Service Association. He enjoyed cars, hunting,fishing, bbq and singing in a quartet. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy and Warren Davis and Thomas Shannon. His memory will be cherished by his wife of 45 years, Bertha H. Shannon; daughter and son in law, Sheri and Robert Hamilton; grandchildren, Mallory and Isaac Hamilton, all of Kansas City; cousins, Rhetta Jo and Rich Noever of Lawrence, KS; 2 half sisters, Betty Shannon and Patsy Lynch and many other family and friends. In lieu of flowers and in appreciation for the gift of life that his wife received, the family suggests contributions to St. Luke's Foundation Heart Transplant Fund, 4225 Baltimore , Kansas City, MO 64111.
